I've joined the ranks of underpowered old-fashioned winch owners. (thanks to Scotty T.) I've got an old Fairy Capstan winch and am looking for a couple of parts. 1. A crank adaptor for the Fairey for a 3 Mb engine and 2. The adaptor that bolts to the frame crossmember that locates and provides tension for the winch drive-shaft. (the doohicky that centers the driveshaft in the pto hole).

After a 300 mile road trip this weekend, I'm back with a parking brake dripping 90W.

Somewhere I recall hearing someone say that there was a felt seal on the shaft similar to the half shafts. Can't find mention of it in my Green Bible or in the parts catalogs from BP or RN. Is there such a part?

I'd like my tranny brake back. another question from Lumpy. I worked this weekend to get the brake lights working and seem to have found that the Stop Lamp switch is to blame. I redid all of the connections and ground wire and the only way the turn on is to bypass the switch. So I went to the trusty green bible, a 1960 specific manual, as well as the generic Haynes manual and no documentation on the replacement.

Neither works.

On one, the switch operates smoothly. No clicking, no catching.

On the other, the switch clicks and catches over its range of movement.

Which is normal?

My only other rover wiper experience has been with a SIII setup, so I do not know what is normal. I do not want to spend time on disassembling and cleaning, on a motor with a fouled up switch. I'm registered, dontated too. When I logged on it always used to come up with my username and password when I logged on. Also, all of the options for URLs, email addresses, etc. were there.

Suddenly though, I have to enter my user name and password every time and the options for emails, pics, etc. are gone.
